The World of Hyatt Credit Card is one of the best hotel credit cards available right now. New cardholders get 25,000 bonus points for spending $3,000 within three months of opening an account, then another 25,000 for spending $3,000 more within six months. Those bonuses are worth up to roughly $950 in Hyatt reservations and are among the biggest reasons why the Hyatt Credit Card is so good. The card also offers 1 - 4 points / $1 in ongoing rewards on purchases, yielding a nice percentage return. The World of Hyatt Card's $95 annual fee is reasonable compared to many other hotel credit cards, too.

Below, you can find more information to help you decide whether or not to apply for the World of Hyatt Credit Card.

Highlights

Two initial bonuses. Spending at least $3,000 within three months of opening your Hyatt Credit Card will score you 25,000 bonus points, plus an extra 25,000 for spending another $3,000 by the six-month mark. That's a pretty good deal, considering 1 Hyatt rewards point is worth around 2 cents.

Free night after each account anniversary. This anniversary gift is good at category 1-4 hotels, which are the least expensive locations in Hyatt's portfolio.

Sneakily rewarding points. You will earn 4 points per $1 spent at Hyatt properties with your Hyatt Rewards Card, plus 2 points per $1 spent on dining at restaurants, fitness club and gym memberships, airfare purchased directly from airlines, and local transit and commuting. You'll also get 1 point per $1 spent on everything else. That might not sound like a lot compared to hotel credit cards offering 10+ points per $1 spent. But each World of Hyatt point is worth an average of $0.019.

Elite status. Simply having the Hyatt Card scores you Elite status in the World of Hyatt rewards program, which gets you extra perks at Hyatt properties.

Very high APR. You need good or excellent credit for approval, and the average credit cards for people with good and excellent credit charge 19.28% and 13.03%, respectively. That means you're almost guaranteed to pay interest at an above-average rate if you carry a balance from month to month.

Annual fee requires regular use. The Hyatt Card's $95 annual fee isn't the highest among hotel credit cards, but it's certainly not the lowest, either. And while the free night you'll get on each account anniversary will help offset this cost, you'd ideally like that gift to help you save more, not just break even.

Sams Credit Card

The Sam’s Club Credit Card, issued by Synchrony Bank, is a basic store credit card for Sam’s Club members with a less-than-stellar credit profile. The Sam’s Club Credit Card can only be used at Sam’s Club and Walmart stores and doesn’t offer any rewards on purchases, so it’s mainly for borrowers who aren’t likely to qualify for a better credit card that can be used more broadly. If your credit is just fair (if you have a FICO score of 580 to 669) and you shop at Sam’s Club and Walmart frequently, this card can be a worthwhile financing tool, albeit with a steep interest rate.

Most people, however, will be better off with a cash-back card that works anywhere and earns rewards of some kind. Try the CardCruncher tool to find the right card for you.
